One of the most significant changes we have made over the past 5 years was to move away from the top‐down pyramidal approach that is predominant in our industry.
Our new approach recognizes that one of our primary roles as a firm is to train and develop team members to become more well‐rounded professionals. We then rely on these individuals to help provide solutions for our clients.
In recognition of the diverse talents within our team, we have altered our business model to rely on the advice of our team in creating solutions for ourselves as well.
We have created committees within the firm that consist of people from varying levels, and from across different departments. In this way we are encompassing the ideas of a wide array of people in making decisions. A partner from the firm sits on each committee and relays the information and advice from the committee at the partner level.
As a result of involving team members directly in the future planning of the firm through the establishment of these committees, we have significantly reduced the industry expected turnover and increased team morale.
It has also created an environment of open communication amongst team members of all levels, where ideas are shared equally among colleagues. Our new head office located at 554 St. Mary’s Road reflect this open attitude to communication. The office area was designed specifically as an open office concept with significant natural light throughout both floors. Every aspect of this new office space was designed for Team Members, with significant input from the entire team, to ensure we were moving to a location that met the needs of everyone.
